WIC- Women, Infants, and Children
Since 1974, the Pennsylvania WIC Program has been improving the nutrition and health of families across the state. At the Community Action Partnership of Cambria County, we are proud to offer this vital service to support the well-being of pregnant women, mothers, infants, and young children in our community.

What is WIC?

The WIC Program provides:
  • Healthy Foods
    • WIC food benefits give participants access to healthy foods such as whole grains, dairy, produce, and lean protein from WIC authorized stores. Each family’s supplemental food package is determined by a nutritionist at the WIC office.  Access your WIC benefits and shopping list through the WIC Shopper App and learn about available healthy foods with the WIC Food List and Shopping Guide 2025.
  • Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program
    • The Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides WIC participants with access to fresh fruits and vegetables from local markets. WIC staff issue vouchers from June through September when local fresh produce is readily available through preapproved farmers’ markets.  Vouchers can be used at local markets until the end of November each year. Find your closest farm market through the PA Farm Market Search.

  • Breastfeeding Support
    • The WIC Program strongly supports mothers’ milk as the main source of nutrition for infants. Breastfeeding improves health outcomes, lowers healthcare costs and saves lives! New mothers are supported with breastfeeding counseling services and free pumps.

  • Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program
    • The WIC Peer Counseling staff are moms within the community who have breastfed their own babies. They have been carefully selected by WIC to help offer new mothers’ important information about breastfeeding to help them meet their breastfeeding goals. To contact one of the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, call: 814.361.6308 (Johnstown) or 814.472.7321 (Ebensburg/Carrolltown).

Benefits of WIC

Participants in the WIC program learn about good nutrition and healthy habits that can positively impact their families for a lifetime. Whether it’s understanding portion sizes, managing food allergies, or introducing new foods to young children, WIC empowers caregivers with the tools they need to succeed.
